Hey Friend! I'm Michala: A born and raised Texan, who married her high-school sweetheart, and brought three beautiful babies earth-side. I’m a down to earth mama who truly finds joy in supporting other women. I will never turn down a coffee, I have a pile of books on my nightstand that I swear I’m going to read someday, and cookie dough never makes it into the oven in my household. Lol There’s a special place in my heart for travel and adventure, fresh air feeds my soul, and I have always dreamed of owning a small farm… even though I don’t know the first thing about farming.

When it comes to my place in the birth community… I have been fascinated by birth for as long as I can remember. God placed this calling on my heart from the beginning, but my personal birth stories are what truly set my soul on fire.

What led me here...

As a first time mom who was planning an unmedicated hospital birth, I thought I knew all that I needed to know to get through it… but man was I wrong. After falling victim to the cascade of interventions, I wound up leaving the hospital with my baby boy… but also loads of birth trauma, guilt, and regret. Something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Following my son’s first birthday, I decided to become certified as a birth doula and was truly educated as to how raw physiological birth is intended to be. I reflected on my own experience, learned more than I could have ever imagined, and vowed to help other mothers advocate for themselves, and their birth, the way that I wished I could have.

A year after my certification, I found out that I was pregnant with twins, and I immediately started researching home birth midwives in my area. This confused a lot of people… but I knew in my heart, and my gut, that it was the right choice for me and my babies.

I surrounded myself with an educated, kind, faithful, and experienced birth team… and at 37 weeks gestation, I gave birth to my breech twins in the comfort of my own home. This was by far the most empowering, life-changing, redemptive experience that I could have ever asked for.

The funny thing is… I have always been passionate about birth. Even as a young child I can recall telling everyone that I wanted to spend time with, and care for, the mothers and babies during birth. Now here I am. Sharing my story, supporting women, and living my absolute dream.

God placed this calling on my heart from the beginning, but it all became crystal clear after walking through my own journey. I truly believe that I was put on this earth to care for my children, while also holding the hands of the women around me that are entering into motherhood.

Michala's invaluable support as my labor doula was evident from our first meeting. Throughout my labor, her calming presence, encouragement, and knowledgeable guidance helped me navigate each contraction with confidence. Her support extended postpartum, offering invaluable advice and emotional support. I highly recommend Michala to anyone seeking a compassionate and skilled labor doula. She made all the difference in my birthing experience.
